Whether or not teachers recognize it, they're standing in the pathway of a perfect storm created by a few alleged criminals and a district wanting to free itself of blame. These accused teachers have all forfeited their protections guaranteed through collective bargaining because they're up on morals charges. But even if that wasn't the case, they could depend on an impotent defense from a useless union, UTLA, which hands them over to the district through its retained attorneys, Trystad, Schwab & Trygstad. For the classified personnel it's even worse. The first thing their representation will do is to raise the white flag. So if you're a teacher or teaching assistant reading this, I'd like to say that being forewarned is forearmed. But that doesn't count here. This is only the calm before the inquisition, another "unprecedented" action on the part of a an insecure and equally incompetent superintendent bent on cutting costs in anticipation of charters and privatization.

I fully expect there will be TFA scabs put in schools all over the city when more and more teachers will be falsely accused of "morals charges" or tainted by being associated, like the Miramonte staff is, with those accused, and be fired. There will be more and more schools that will be closed because of the alleged actions of one or two teachers and then reopened as charters.
Deasy himself needs to be fired.
