The Jockey Club's proposals should be heeded because if they aren't, the animal rights people will try to ban the sport altogether. I am not in favor of that, of course, especially when I know what the animal rights people are really all about.

I'd like to see medication completely banned. The real problem in racing, though, is inferior stock has been allowed to breed and soundness problems have increased over the decades in the quest for speed.

Discrimination is largely why older women fare poorly in retirement.
