Eagle Point teachers and other staff are still on strike with no end in sight. The district has been trying to recruit scabs at double the pay of normal substitutes when classes resume next week, presumably.
I don't know how many takers there are. I just got my sub license, but there is no way I'd cross a picket line.

Excellent article from the NYT on children who are likely psychopaths. Can anything be done to help them so they don't turn out to be criminals, executives, or presidential candidates?
Currently, there is no standard test for psychopathy in children, but a growing number of psychologists believe that psychopathy, like autism, is a distinct neurological condition — one that can be identified in children as young as 5. Crucial to this diagnosis are callous-unemotional traits, which most researchers now believe distinguish “fledgling psychopaths” from children with ordinary conduct disorder, who are also impulsive and hard to control and exhibit hostile or violent behavior. According to some studies, roughly one-third of children with severe behavioral problems — like the aggressive disobedience that Michael displays — also test above normal on callous-unemotional traits. (Narcissism and impulsivity, which are part of the adult diagnostic criteria, are difficult to apply to children, who are narcissistic and impulsive by nature.)_____
So much for the "star witness" in the Jerry Sandusky mess.
You bet McQueary isn't a bit credible. The case sounds like more and more bullshit, and yes, about people who want to get giant insurance payouts.

*--Pun not intended, but I didn't make those two words a compound word. Some people, however, might think his regime at WCSD was shit.
