Obama knows there is an election coming up, so he thinks he can get more people on his side by endorsing same-sex marriage.
He must think Romney hasn't a prayer at all of defeating him in November, so this is a halfway safe position to take.
This president is a very calculating person, and if tomorrow it wasn't safe to support SSM, Obama would say he was "devolving" on this issue.
too bad he doesn't support public education and teachers.
