For the Unqualified, There's Always Louisiana

Louisiana charter schools, which take public money, no longer will be required to have certified teachers on staff. Oh, lovely. Any goddamned idiot off the street can now be a "teacher" there as long as they blindly follow orders and read from a script.

"Reformers" don't give a rip about improving standards. Just as I thought, they want to lower them.

A few people are expressing opposition, however:

Under previous rules, at least 75 percent of charter school teachers were supposed to be certified.

But state Superintendent of Education John White said views on certification have changed.

White said charter schools face tougher oversight than traditional public schools, and can be closed after four years.

Charter schools are supposed to offer innovative classrooms without the red tape common in traditional public schools.

Bull fucking shit. They aren't subject to ANY real oversight at all, while public schools are held accountable to voters.

White is Eli Broad, by the way.

Apparently there is at least one lawsuit against the new voucher program.
