Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was declared “clinically dead” late Tuesday night, the state news agency reported, but that report was quickly denied by a lawyer for the former statesman.
Yosri Abdel Razek, an attorney for the 84-year-old former statesman, who said he was at the hospital where Mubarak was treated, said in a phone interview at 11:45 p.m. that Mubarak was in critical condition, but remained alive.
The Middle East News Agency said that Mubarak’s heart stopped after he arrived at a military hospital in the upscale district of Maadi of Cairo and that efforts to resuscitate him failed.
He was sentenced to "life" in prison earlier this month. Looks like he will get an early release.
