These "reformers," most of whom are men, think they know best and trust that the largely compliant, female workforce will buckle down and do what they want.
And for the most part these "reformers" have gotten away with murder because the teaching force has mostly had their heads up their collective asses, or they dismiss "reform" efforts as just another "swing of the pendulum" and that somehow it will swing back.
Of course, these "reforms" are NOT "fads" that will pass from the scene. Privatizers want to DESTROY public education simply because it is public, and in their demented thinking, EVERYTHING should be for profit and NOTHING should be for the public good.
