I don't believe Mitt is ahead nationally, certainly not after that dismal performance of the other night.

The L.A. Times simply won't give up its quest to destroy teachers' reputations.
I wonder if Rigoberto Ruelas' family has sued the paper.

Qualified teachers will no longer be needed in New York state:
Traditional teacher preparation programs have not produced enough special education or science teachers to fill the city’s needs, Polakow-Suransky said. Reforms to the way students with disabilities are served this year have pushed the city to offer current teachers an incentive to take classes that would allow them to lead special education classes.
“We don’t want to have to depend on a university in order to train our teachers,” he said this afternoon. “Already, we’re having to retrain many teachers when they come into the system because they don’t have the skills that they need.”
These "teachers" will always be inferior.
By the way, there is no shortage of either science or sped teachers; if there really are of the latter, there is a reason for it. It has to do with the constant threat of lawsuits by parents, the constant pressure by principals to cheat, and the horrendous amount of paperwork involved. Much of what you do as a sped teacher is clerical in nature, and that should not be allowed. Few schools have classified staff to arrange meetings, mail out notices, and so forth. Many sped teachers use the job as a steppingstone to a regular classroom job. This may be changing now since classroom teachers are getting shafted every which way.
