Etc.

Gee, I thought those overpaid teachers could never be fired once they received "tenure" or be denied "tenure" in another position. Of course they can, and for the stupidest of reasons, as this article notes:

Tiffany Webb, a highly regarded guidance counselor at Murry Bergtraum HS for Business Careers downtown, was fired after 12 years with the Department of Education because photos of her in lingerie and bikinis from her early career as a model are still floating around the Internet.

Webb, now 37, said she posed in seductive undies between age 18 to 20, but stopped modeling several years before she became a city teacher in 1999. She has worked in elementary, middle and high schools.

From what I understand, although she was in the district for 12 years, her "tenure" started all over again when she went into counseling. This should not be allowed at all.

From this blog, an important thing to note:

As a lesson to any teacher in the DOE, be careful what position you take as to it may involve becoming a probationary teacher again(ie you have tenure as a JHS teacher and a HS position opens means you give up tenure for 2 years). Do not switch your license or take a position where your tenure is compromised. This is what the DOE is looking for to fire you.

They just found a way to get rid of an "expensive" employee. It's too bad she went into counseling in the first place.

The internet can be used for malicious reasons. Just think of that fucking bogus lawsuit where I was named, and the stupid Reno press publicized. I doubt I can get any of those news organizations to remove the libelous allegations. Yet employers can dig up that shit and use it against me.

Venezuela's Hugo Chavez won re-election tonight.

The latest is here:

With about 90 percent of votes counted, Chavez had more than 54 percent of the vote, and Capriles had 45 percent, National Electoral Council president Tibisay Lucena said. She said 81 percent of the nearly 19 million registered voters cast ballots, one of the largest turnouts in years.
