From the sound of this report, it seems like Andrew Stansberry, the WCSD principal who was put on leave, voluntarily left his position as principal at Benton Harbor School District for a charter school job and wasn't forced out. It almost sounds like there was some kind of audit of the account from which Stansberry embezzled nearly $27,000 and wasn't discovered until much later on. The charges filed against him weren't until April of this year, some three to five YEARS after he stole the money. Why did it take so long for him to be charged?
It is puzzling to me because public school principals don't ordinarily quit their jobs, and certainly they don't quit their jobs to work at charter schools where there is much less job security, even if the pay is more. There has to be a lot more to the story than what has been published.
