The Future of Teaching

In a way I am glad I am near the end of my working career, such as it is, for I cannot fathom what is down the road for teachers. Hell, it's already happening now in Louisiana and Florida. Politicians there don't think having certified teachers is important; since anybody can teach--take a look at TFA--why not just have high school grads or GEDs do it?

In other words "teachers" will be classified employees, not certificated. This gives "reformers" the excuse to force online "education" on students regardless of whether it is appropriate or effective for students. Think of it: No real teachers, just a bunch
of teacher aides making minimum wage, because, after all, teaching is so easy anybody can do it. That's the philosophy behind "Teach" for America, and the outfit should have been made illegal in all fifty states. That organization violates equal protection for students, for they are used always in low-income (read minority-dominated) schools and school districts, NOT high-income (read white) schools and school districts. WHERE are the federal lawsuits against these proposals? I see few or none.

There will likely have to be a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to a public education and outlawing taxpayer-financed private schools--charters--to even stop this because it is really too far gone.

If teachers had been paying attention at all instead of being martyrs married to their "profession" all day long, they would have been fully aware of what was happening all over the country with privatization of the public good, which is nothing more than a form of economic treason. They would have been prepared for the onslaught. Now the plutocrats own both political parties on this issue of privatizing public schools. The movement occurred almost overnight with the election of a fake Democrat and his horrible education secretary. Teachers won't even have careers in ten years if this isn't reversed.

The fact is this is a global movement. It's all based on the idea that education and teacher salaries are seen not as a public good but as a waste of money since few jobs require any education beyond sixth or seventh grade.
