An Unqualified Person Talks About Education

Hell, in this day and age nobody is considered qualified to talk about education unless he or she has NO experience in the field. Anyway, WCSD sup Pedro Martinez gave his take on the "state of education" at the school district, giving some encouragement by providing a "ranking" of the various schools ala AAA travel guides.

Only 38 schools received four or five stars.

“The information offered within this framework is not intended to judge or label any school,” Martinez said. “It is a vehicle for improvement.”

He said he expected the four high schools with a four star ranking to be competing against each other to see which could become a five star first.

“Today’s classroom is very different than it was a decade ago,” said Martinez, as he outlined the district’s goals to close achievement gaps with certain groups of students including Hispanics, African Americans, English Language learners and children with disabilities.

You think so, Pedro? Don't forget, 90 percent of the teachers in Nevada aren't worth a shit according to the political hack state sup of education James W. Guthrie.
