Jodi Arias Trial: Day 15

Update 3:05 (PST): Court is adjourned for the weekend. Jodi will still be testifying for the defense. This will likely last another couple of days at least. She resumed talking about the early days of her relationship with Travis, with her testimony ending with her Valentine's Day (of 2007) present from Travis. He sent her some chocolates, which had melted and she put in the refrigerator, and a package containing the tee shirt which had "Travis Alexander's" on it, a pair of pink shorts with "Travis's" printed on it, and a pair of boy's Spiderman shorts.

I will upload the rerun for as much my benefit as any reader's when it becomes available. I watched only the last 20 minutes or so of the trial live.

Jodi Arias will continue to testify in her defense today. Presumably Martinez will cross-examine her on Monday. I hope she is prepared for the onslaught.

What strikes me about her demeanor so far is she no longer has the "dead look" in her eyes; she looks and acts normal. In her television interviews, especially 48 Hours, which was recorded a few months after her arrest, she looked like she was in a trance. I honestly don't know if she has some kind of personality disorder, mental illness, or she was suffering from PTSD at the time. She reminded me of one of those people who are caught up in cults and take on an almost robotic demeanor. She reminded me of a Moonie.

I regularly read the Travis Alexander Facebook pages put up by his friends and family. It's kind of shocking how full of vengeance and hate they have. One of the friends wrote over there today rather missed the point of Travis's sexual behavior. To make excuses for somebody who treated women like shit doesn't help him at all. The talking point is Travis's only sin was being a "normal" man. Well, "normal" people don't use others as objects, as booty calls, while blatantly cheating on them. One doesn't go and create one persona for one group of friends while behaving completely differently with somebody else. One doesn't go around and lie about being a virgin while engaging in slutty behavior with women who he regards as "sluts." Some of his friends can't seem to understand that it's the hypocrisy, stupid, and that's why he is tragically dead.
