Since there is NO national shortage of teachers, there is no reason for TFA to exist at all. I am glad California is cracking down on it.

I know they aren't used in Oregon to my knowledge; Oregon has very stringent requirements on who gets certified. Alternative licensure is allowed for a few subjects like agriculture, but there are not very many. It's a long, drawn-out process to get certified here.

Out-of-state teachers like yours truly are considered to be equal to a new teacher graduate with no experience, unless the teachers have five or more years of experience in a single subject area.

An absolutely bizarre clerical error has been the subject of many observers in the Jodi Arias case these past few days with regard to an alleged police record of Travis Alexander which turns out not to have been him, but his brother using his Travis's ID.

If true, it sure as hell is a poor reflection on the Riverside Police Department and courts there.

It should have been corrected years ago.
