President Barack Obama has initiated what commentators called a “charm offensive,” aimed at an entitlement-cutting “Grand Bargain” with the Republicans. On Wednesday, he invited twelve Republican Senators to dinner at the Jefferson Hotel in downtown Washington, picking up the tab from his personal funds. On Thursday, he had lunch with Rep. Paul Ryan, the Republican House budget chief and former vice-presidential candidate, who is closely associated with the drive to dismantle Medicare.
Obama has already proposed cutting $400 billion from Medicare over the next ten years, as well as over $100 billion from Social Security by implementing a new way of calculating the cost of living. Ryan is proposing to go even further, introducing a voucher system for Medicare that would essentially end its status as a government program and turn it into a subsidy for private insurance companies.
Obama is a piece of fucking shit and clearly a tool. He was put in there to implement far-right policies when the GOP could get nowhere. It was critical African Americans be neutralized in opposition as well as Democratic politicians, hence his rise in the party when he had no real qualifications for the presidency. He was a mole for the neoliberals, billionaires, Wall Street crooks, and far-right think tanks to implement policies that are catastrophic for anybody not in the top one percent of the top one percent.
I am just amazed more people who are Democrats don't see what he truly is. The level of denial is astounding when the evidence is right there for everybody to see.
Precious few Democratic politicians in D.C. are worth a shit now. We have Merkley and DeFazio in Oregon, and Warren and Grayson in other states, but that is just about it for Democrats in Congress worth a shit. Most would give away the store as long as they got those campaign contributions that enable them to further give away the store.
Dysfunctional doesn't even BEGIN to describe D.C. politics.
