Sure It's "For the Kids"

Sure. Teachers in NYC are about to be further targeted by administrators on the most ridiculous of reasons, test scores in large part, and which teachers have NO control over how those kids answer those questions.

To toss a bone to those teachers, they can have a "say" on how they are evaluated, but fat chance their concerns would be considered.

Under the new system, 20 to 25 percent of each teacher’s rating score would be determined by state-approved measures of students’ growth, another 15 to 20 percent by measures established by the schools, and 55 to 60 percent would be based on in-class observations or performance assessed by video recording.

Although the new system would make it easier to fire teachers with poor evaluations, Mr. King said that “New York is not going to fire its way to educational success.”

What a liar.

Meanwhile, the principals will get away with even more than they already do.

Expect this bullshit to come to your neighborhood school district if it hasn't already, regardless of what part of the country you live.
