The Smell of Scapegoating Is in the Air

Nevada's Sparks Middle School, badly affected by the fatal shooting of a teacher and wounding of two students by a fellow student last fall, is slowly healing.

That is all good news, and I am glad to hear it.

However, somebody was scapegoated for doing nothing wrong:

Ting-Senini has been at Sparks Middle School since Oct. 31. She was the district's only consulting principal, an upper management position formed to mentor others, when she was asked to go to Sparks Middle School.

Former Principal Stacy Cooper went on leave immediately after the shooting.

The district said Cooper did nothing wrong but is not returning.

Which means she was made a scapegoat for the tragedy.

This is NOT right. It appears Washoe County School District hasn't changed one damned bit since I was kicked to the curb six years ago.
