Today marked the first day of the one-time Olympic athlete's murder trial. Oscar Pistorius is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine's Day of 2013.
Pistorius claims he shot her by "accident" by mistaking her for an intruder. A witness today remembered how she heard "blood-curdling" screams and four gunshots coming from the Pistorius residence at the time of the "accident."
It is quite reminiscent of the O.J. trial, but it won't last anywhere near as long. It's not likely he is going to hop away free from this, no pun intended.

The part of the defense that makes little sense to me is, he wasn't wearing his legs when he walked to the bathroom where he thought there was an intruder.
I think I read that he was on the far side of the bed in relation to the bathroom. Without his legs, he would have been just higher than bed level and at that eye level, wouldn't he be able to tell if his his girlfriend was in the bed, or not? There is either a lump in the bed, or not.
Unless the sheets were black, his eyes would have been accustomed to the darkness and he should have been able to see a lump on the bed, or not.
I hope there is a recreation of the lighting, the color of the sheets, and his eye level.
