Albert Maysles, who with his late brother David made a number of notable documentaries, has died.
Measles was 88 years old and lived in New York at the time of his death.
The Maysles brothers' most famous film was undoubtedly Gimme Shelter, a film that was originally going to be about the Rolling Stones' 1969 tour, but ended up being a documentary record of the infamous Altamont concert, which ended in chaos and murder.
I'll say one thing, though, and that's the Stones never, ever again had any real problems in any more of their concerts all these years later. They are noted for their professionalism, and were so noted even before Altamont.
Albert Maysles was active right up to his death.
