Obituary: Betsy Palmer

Actress and television personality Betsy Palmer, 88, has died.

To younger people, she is best remembered for her role in the 1980 cult horror film Friday the 13th. However, to baby boomers and those older, she is best remembered as a game show panelist for the famous Goodson-Todman game shows of the 1950s and 1960s, specifically I've Got a Secret.

More:

Palmer had appeared in numerous TV shows dating to the early 1950s Golden Age of Television. Among them were such classic dramas as "Kraft Theatre," ''Playhouse 90" and "Studio One."

Her film credits included "Mr. Roberts" with Henry Fonda, "The Long Gray Line" with Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara, "Queen Bee" with Joan Crawford, and "The Tin Star" with Fonda and Anthony Perkins.

She died of natural causes and was in hospice care.

Here is a classic moment from that iconic game show:

Interesting that in the past year four well-known Goodson-Todman game show panelists have passed away: Polly Bergen, Bess Myerson, Jayne Meadows, and now Betsy Palmer. Polly Bergen was on To Tell the Truth, while the others were on I've Got a Secret.
