More hogwash coming out the teacher-hating legislature in Nevada.
What a load of hogwash. Home schooling is a joke although those arrangements are overseen by school districts anyway, and kids have to follow state standards. Private schools will resist any attempt to tell them how to spend the extra money, but of course, they will just jack up the tuition in order to keep the "riff-raff" out. Parents don't "choose" those schools--the schools pick the students, mostly high-achieving students, so that their test numbers look good. That's how they get the reputation for "rigorous" curriculum, or at least some of them have that reputation. Keep out the special ed kids, keep out the ESL kids, keep out just plain average kids, keep out the behavior disordered kids, and then the schools are free to soup up the curriculum a grade level or two above the students' chronological age in order to get those "high" students.
