Well, whaddoyouknow. A right-wing outfit says Oregon is the second most unlivable state in the country, after Hawaii.
How the hell Nevada was left off of it is a mystery to me. Nevada isn't what it was 20 years ago, when it was a boom state. It still hasn't recovered from the 2008 crash.
Certain parts of Oregon are much more depressed than say the Willamette Valley, where most of the jobs are. The southern part of the state started catering to retirees in the late 1960s, and that is why it is so difficult to get a job there. It can take a person YEARS to land a regular job--it is that bad. The only professional jobs that are doing much hiring are in the medical field. Oregon, however, IS an expensive state to live in because the pay is not that high and they do tax the hell out of you. However, there is no sales tax.
