It was the battle of the grey horses as Creator has beaten Destin by a nose. The race was in doubt until the photo of the finish confirmed the win.
Steve Asmussen was the trainer of the winner.
Another grey horse, Lani, the Japanese horse, came in third.
Favorite Exaggerator did not place.
It was the most exciting finish in the Belmont since Real Quiet lost the Triple Crown by a nose in 1998.

Both horses are descended from Secretariat through AP Indy and Summer Squall (Creator) and Storm Cat (Destin). Sires of both are Tapit (Creator) and Giant's Causeway (Destin). Lani has a similar pedigree to Creator.
