Obituary: I was watching the pilot episode of my DVD of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and was watching a love scene by guest star Fritz Weaver. I went to look him up on Google, thinking he was still alive, but sure enough, he passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday.
He was everywhere on television during its first two decades, plus he distinguished himself as a stage actor, including winning a Tony award.
When I watch television shows from the 1950s and 1960s, it is fun to see who was in there who would later become big stars. However, those people who were in what could called the "stock company" for those studios producing these shows are even more interesting.
Weaver, who had a distinctive voice and physical presence, was especially known for his pair of Twilight Zone appearances "Third from the Sun" and "The Obsolete Man."
