I guess fundies shouldn't feel too superior over Catholics. However, I do dispute the notion that "evangelicals," which the author means fundies, "far outnumber" Catholics in this country. They don't. There are some 50 MILLION Catholics, which is a far greater number than all the fundies combined.
The author makes the common error of using fundamentalists and evangelicals as interchangeable when in fact they are NOT. "Evangelical" denominations also include Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist, and many other mainline denominations. None of them have the wealth, the numbers, the institutional apparatus, as the Catholic church, which is why I dispute the article. There have always been sex and abuse scandals involving churches.
