Well, since the late 1960s, the Republican Party has gradually gone into the ditch, so nothing is new, Joe.

Now it is mostly openly run by the Kochs, who do seek to destroy all institutions in this country in order to enrich themselves further.

The Atlantic on its Facebook page recycled an article from three years ago, but it is still relevant.  Most of these aides are women.   That is why these jobs are underpaid. The sexist notion women are dependents and men are providers lies at the very root of sexism in the workplace. Education, experience, difficulty, and other such baloney explanations have no bearing on it whatsoever. It is the notion women don't need the money because men are supporting them forms the basis of female poverty. Low pay coerces women into marriage, which is the ultimate goal of the denigration of women's labor.
