Obituary: Actress Jean Porter, 95, who made many appearances in films but never became a big star, has died. She might be better known to some for having married director Edward Dmytryk, known for being one of the "Hollywood Ten" during the blacklist era:

Porter was born in Cisco, Texas in 1922. Living in Hollywood at the age of 12, she was discovered at a dance school. She started out in bit parts in films and then was signed to a contract with MGM.

Her last screen appearances came in 1961 on Television in episodes of “Sea Hunt” and “77 Sunset Strip.”

Porter wrote several books including a biography of jazz musician Jess Stacy.
