Throwing the Book at a Perv
The judge in the Larry Nassar case threw the book at him today, sentencing him from 40 to 175 years in prison. In other words, he will spend the rest of his life incarcerated.
I have seen reports that anywhere from 160 to 190 women accused Nassar of sexually assaulting them. He had done this over a period of more than 30 years.
I read a bit about him recently, after watching so many of the impact statements, and he clearly abused his position as an athletic doctor in order to molest young women. Most of the allegations center on his using pelvic/rectal exam techniques on young women, hence the numerous cases of parents being in the room. I had read that in cases where female athletes have hip issues and similar injuries, sports doctors do at times employ pelvic/rectal probes. The problem, of course, is Nassar violated medical protocol again and again and again. He never used gloves, didn't get parental consent, ordered medical staff out of the room, and so forth just so he could molest the young girls and women. They didn't even know what he was doing other than they felt violated and were in many cases in excruciating pain. It was that traumatic. Their allegations were completely believable.
Nassar will rot in jail and never hurt another young girl or woman ever again.
