How did an academic who is as stupid as fuck ever get to be a cult figure?

Following Carl Jung, Peterson identifies “archetypes” in myths, dreams, and religions, which have apparently defined truths of the human condition since the beginning of time. “Culture,” one of his typical arguments goes, “is symbolically, archetypally, mythically male”—and this is why resistance to male dominance is unnatural. Men represent order, and “Chaos—the unknown—is symbolically associated with the feminine.” In other words, men resisting the perennially fixed archetypes of male and female, and failing to toughen up, are pathetic losers.
Such evidently eternal truths are not on offer anymore at a modern university; Jung’s speculations have been largely discredited. But Peterson, armed with his “maps of meaning” (the title of his previous book), has only contempt for his fellow academics who tend to emphasize the socially constructed and provisional nature of our perceptions. As with Jung, he presents some idiosyncratic quasi-religious opinions as empirical science, frequently appealing to evolutionary psychology to support his ancient wisdom.

 It is embarrassing in the extreme an ignorant woman wrote this article. The porn industry is not a beacon of "free speech" or champions against "censorship." This is the same bullshit that has been peddled by the idiots on the mostly male left since the 1970s. Pornography is NOT "free speech." Masturbation is not speech. Nobody has any right to exploit others in order to facilitate it. None of it is "fantasy," and none of it is "consent." Pornography is filmed prostitution, which in turn is paid rape, and therefore human rights abuse. The idiot ACLU took a bunch of money from the pornographers back in the 1970s and conned a few judges into the nonsense the trafficking and exploitation of others was any kind of "speech." It's time to tell the truth and move to abolish it.

For fun, I found this 25-year-old book review of a biography of postmodernist guru Michel Foucault, the man most responsible for so much of the degenerate ideas that have made their way through U.S. college campuses since his death in 1984.  The guy was a complete and total pervert, not just in his private life, but he was also that way through his "philosophy."
