Housing prices in Reno are truly ridiculous. One has to have a household income of 80k to qualify for a mortgage of the average house down there. The only way anybody can do this is if he or she is married.
The overpricing of real estate has existed since the mid-1970s, just as women were starting to flood the labor market and male pay started to decline as a result of the decline of the "family wage."
