Good riddance to this shitbag:  Robert Acremant, death row inmate here in Oregon for the murders of a prominent Medford lesbian couple, has died after being on death row for years.

He killed Roxanne Ellis and Michelle Abdill back in 1995.  The case was profiled on a number of true crime shows, including Forensic Files.

Acremant also killed a son of a friend of his mother's in California.

The report says he didn't like lesbians, but ultimately he killed a pair for money.  Acremant was 50.

Obituary:  Prominent horse racing figure Cot Campbell, whose Dogwood Stable helped start the partnership concept in the sport not unlike breeding syndicates, has died.  He was 91 years old.

Perhaps the best known of all the horses owned by Dogwood Stable was Summer Squall, winner of the 1990 Preakness.  Summer Squall was a grandson of Secretariat on his dam's side.  His dam was the great broodmare Weekend Surprise, who was also the dam of 1992 Horse of the Year and leading sire A.P. Indy making them half-brothers.

Article:

A prolific writer, Campbell authored "Lightning in a Jar: Catching Racing Fever," "Memoirs of a Longshot: A Riproarious Life," and "Rascals and Racehorses: A Sporting Man's Life." He was also a frequent contributor to BloodHorse, for whom he penned the following in 2018:

"It is stunning what these large, four-legged animals can do for one's livelihood. It is also clearly substantiated that most of them can have a negative outcome. No horseman ever lived who could consistently identify the good ones. Therein lies the charm."
