The allegations about the late 60 Minutes creator Don Hewitt persisted for many, many years.

I believe I read the Hertsgaard article (and I think still have his book on the Reagan presidency and the media), which gave a lot of detail about sexual misconduct of both Hewitt and Mike Wallace, but Wallace did admit to doing what was alleged and vowed not to do it again.

Hewitt, on the other, hand, was pure scum.

More is here.

I missed this report of convicted double-murderer Dana Chandler, whose conviction was overturned by the Kansas Supreme Court for retrial because of misconduct by a prosecutor in the case.

Chandler was convicted six years ago of killing her ex-husband, Mike Sisco, and his fiancee, Karen Harkness, back in 2002.

Chandler stood at a podium Friday wearing ankle shackles and a Shawnee County Jail jumpsuit for more than an hour as she cross-examined Seel, who became tearful at times during the interaction.

Chandler addressed her daughter as “Mrs. Seel,” and corrected herself after referring to her as “Hailey.”

Seel said the intent of conversations, some of which were recorded, with Chandler had been to find out what happened to Sisco and Harkness and to hold Chandler responsible if she had murdered them.

During direct examination, Seel recalled the last conversation she had with her mother, testifying that in July 2009, she called Chandler “as a last chance to ask her about my dad.”
