McConnell tries to play the good guy instead of being the obstructionist ass he really is by telling VP Pence the federal shutdown must end.   He also might have heard from his constituents.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump was threatened with removal if he didn't cave on the government shutdown.  After all, it just takes a movement to invoke the 25th amendment, and Trump would be history.

There was also concern about the IRS workers not showing up for work, thus delaying all those refunds.  In addition, SNAP money was going to run out, and this plus the refunds would cut into his base.

The federal government will be open for three weeks, but Trump has threatened to shut it down again if he doesn't get the money he wants for his wall, a wall he once said would be paid for by Mexico.

What Congress needs to do is forbid the government from EVER shutting down.  This 36-day standoff was pure bullshit.

Sanders looks like he has been run over rather than running, and he needs to hang it up.

With the huge number of candidates, he has less chance than ever.
