Another day, another risk-taking idiot dies on Everest.
Talk about not walking the walk. A British mountaineer named Robin Fisher had posted a warning just days ago about the overcrowding on Mount Everest, which had recently cost the life of a man who died on his way down. Instead of heeding his own warning, he trudged on the world's highest peak, and therefore he, too, "died doing what he loved":
British mountaineer Robin Fisher became at least the eighth person this year to die while climbing Mount Everest in Nepal. He died during his descent on Saturday in the so-called "death zone," where low oxygen levels, combined with exhaustion and weakness, can prove fatal.
I believe a person has only a few minutes to get to the summit and then go immediately back down, as the body starts to shut down. This is why the area above 25,000 or 26,000 feet is called the "death zone." These mountaineers are literally dying from oxygen deprivation.

He probably wound up like "Green Boots," being yet another landmark of sorts on the mountain.
Speaking of which, are the bragging rights really worth tripping over dozens of bodies left up there?
'As I documented the team climbing the iconic step, my mind raced and empathized with every person who struggled to stay alive while undoubtedly questioning their own humanity, ethics and integrity.
'This poor human being perched 7000ft above the Western CWM for everyone to observe was a reminder of each of our own mortality. Was this the 'Dream of Everest' we all imagined?
'My heart bled for the family and loved ones and at the same time I was conscious of the necessity to continue to move. At nearly 9000m above sea level, there is no choice but to carry on.
'Who is responsible here? The individuals? The companies? The Government? Is it time to enforce new rules? Will things ever change? What's the solution here?
How about human stupidity just so these people can brag about climbing to the "top of the world"?
Make that 11 deaths in ten days thanks to the congestion.
