Sir Winston |
Sir Winston edged out Tacitus as the latter couldn't quite catch him at the wire winning the 151st running of the Belmont Stakes. The time was 2:28.32 seconds, way off Secretariat's unassailable record. Tacitus went very wide at the far turn, losing ground, so he couldn't catch the winner at the wire.
Joevia finished third, while War of Will finished up the track in ninth place.
Mark Casse, trainer of second favored War of Will, still won the Belmont albeit with a different horse. That means he won two of the three Triple Crown races this year.
A very early report is here.
At least this race didn't have any controversy. Maybe a little bit about any impeding on the top of the homestretch, but it didn't really alter anything. It was a relatively clean race.
Order of finish after the top three:
4th--Tax
5th--Master Fencer
6th--Spinoff
7th--Everfast
8th--Intrepid Heart
9th--War of Will
10th--Bourbon War
