Obituary: Small Colleges
Plummeting birthrates, sky-high tuition, challenges from online "learning," and people unwilling to go into debt all play factors into the closures of more and more colleges, especially those private "liberal arts" colleges:
Here is a list of colleges that have closed since 2016. I am sure the list will get longer and longer.
Here is an even longer list. Note virtually all the public universities listed are in the process of consolidation or merger. Not so with the private colleges by and large.
