Of all the people's lives serial killer Rodney Alcala damaged, perhaps none was more so than his victim Robin Samsoe's mother, Marianne Connelly, who in interviews hoped she would live long enough to see Alcala die.  Unfortunately, this was not to be, as she died on July 23 of multiple organ failure.  It appears to have been a case of medical people not knowing what the hell they were doing.

The appeals and retrials were devastating for Connelly’s family, but the process brought publicity to photos Alcala had taken, and that helped police find other victims and solve those cases, Murphy said – and Connelly was there the whole time, fighting for her daughter.

Connelly “was a hero for crime victims everywhere,” Murphy said, and her ordeal ultimately benefited the loved ones of Alcala’s other victims.

“They were able to see justice done for their families.”

While Connelly strove to ensure people remembered her daughter Robin – a memorial plaque for the girl was installed at the Huntington Beach pier in 2014 – it wasn’t her only loss. Her husband of 27 years, Harry Connelly, died in 2011, and son Robert Samsoe followed in 2015, Mayes said.

Living in Norco, Connelly lost her home after Harry died and moved frequently. An earlier stint of living with Mayes in Wisconsin hadn’t worked out, but Connelly had told her daughter a couple months ago she’d like to try again.

She would have turned 76 in a few days.

Alcala is reportedly in crappy health, and death can't come soon enough in my view.  He has been incarcerated for 40 years, ever since being arrested in connection with Robin Samsoe's murder.  He has been sent to death row three times.

What the hell?

The day after he was taken off suicide watch, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein spent at least two hours locked up alone with a young woman, in a private room reserved for inmates and their attorneys, according to an attorney who was visiting the prison that day.

"The optics were startling. Because she was young. And pretty,” said the visiting attorney, who asked that his name not be used because he didn’t want to anger the prison administration. NBC News has reported that Epstein paid his lawyers to sit with him in a room for eight hours a day for attorney-client meetings, allowing him to avoid his cell.

Jail cells were only for the riffraff in Epstein's eyes.

No wonder he killed himself. He wasn't going to lower himself to that level of being a mere inmate, suffering the consequences of conviction.

And yes, he did commit suicide. Some things really are as they appear to be.
