A lot of people have talked about the unpopularity of Jeremy Corbyn or the impact of Brexit, but I think the self-ID issue, which is widely and openly talked about in the UK and widely and critically talked about in the UK media, had a HUGE impact on the vote. The Labour Party is openly hostile to women's sex-based rights in favor of crossdressers, and women have left the party in droves, whether voluntarily or kicked out. It goes without saying the even further left political parties there have gone down the woman-hating road of queer theory.
This is a big wakeup call to the Democratic Party. It HAS to abandon queer theory notions about "identity"--women's rights are NOT part of "identity politics" because a woman is not an identity but a material fact--or stand to lose big like the Labour Party did. The UK is way ahead of the United States on this, and the media there are not as complicit in furthering queer theory ideas on the public as US media.
_____
It goes without saying the antisemitism issue played a big role, too. The political left, as with the far right, is virulently antisemitic. No surprise about criticisms over Corbyn.
_____
This vote was a repudiation of far left thinking.

John Dean nails it:
What’s ironic about Trump being POTUS that those who elected him do not realize is he could not pass a federal civil service exam, not pass the vetting process for a high level appointment, never pass a confirmation hearing for any cabinet or other post. HE’S TOTALLY UNQUALIFIED.— John Dean (@JohnWDean) December 15, 2019
