I am not sure Sanders' campaign is based on misreading the 2016 campaign. I think it is more deliberate ratfuckery by a man so consumed with ego he can't or won't see the damage he has done.
Sanders' act was based on white male rage, just as Trump's campaign was. Too bad these dudes don't have the privileges they used to have years ago, but they need to accept it.
Sanders' whole schtick is to create damage to the Democratic Party. He needs to go back to obscurity.

Speaking of Sanders, he was never a serious candidate for president. If he could have ever been elected, he would not be effective because he cannot compromise at all, and politics is the art of the compromise.
