Obituary:  Comedian and actor Jerry Stiller, 92, known for being one-half of the comedy team Stiller & Meara, died of natural causes according to his son Ben.  Of course, the "Meara" part of the team was his wife Anne, whom he married in 1954 and had two children with.  She passed away in 2015.

They were regulars on variety shows like the Ed Sullivan Show.  A lot of the humor derived from the fact they had a "mixed" marriage (he Jewish, she Catholic).  The team also had a lot of success independently as actors.  They kept it all in the family, as their children Ben and Amy followed their footsteps into show business.

Stiller had lost his wife, Anne Meara, in 2015. The two met in a New York casting call in 1953 and a few short years later became the timeless "Stiller & Meara" comedy team -- making their name in the 1960s with frequent performances on variety shows, including the "The Ed Sullivan Show."

The native New Yorker caught the comedy bug early, inspired while growing up by listening to comedian Eddie Cantor on Sunday nights on the radio.

Stiller told ClevelandSeniors.com in 2010 that he identified with Cantor because he "came from the Lower East Side where I was brought up."
"He was Jewish," Stiller said. "He worked his way up from being a singing waiter. He had such joy, such energy."

I have written about Eddie Cantor on this blog. He retired a few years before he died, so he was a bit before my time as a result. I grew up with most of his contemporaries (Jack Benny, George Burns, the Marx Brothers, etc.).    He was one of the greats, cute as a button and had charisma to boot. He was a real rival to Al Jolson in that regard. Cantor died in 1964, around the same time as Harpo Marx and Gracie Allen. They all died within weeks of each other.  Cantor died October 10, 1964, Marx on September 28, 1964 (his 28th wedding anniversary), and Allen on August 27, 1964.

Dumb shit male judge needs to recuse himself because he insists on the plaintiffs in the CT girls' track cheating case not call the male cheaters males.

No?  Then, short of this biased judge recusing himself, the plaintiffs should simply refer to these males as cheaters.

After all, that is what they are.

In the motion filed Saturday, the ADF attorneys argue that Chatigyny’s order is “legally unprecedented” and disrupts the appearance of impartiality.

“A disinterested observer would reasonably believe that the Court’s order
and comments have destroyed the appearance of impartiality in this proceeding. That requires recusal,” reads the motion, which was obtained by National Review. “To be sure, the public debate over gender identity and sports is a heated and emotional one. This only increases the urgency that court preserve their role as the singular place in society where all can be heard and present facts before an impartial tribunal.”

The case centers on the participation of two transgender sprinters, Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood, who have combined to win 15 girls indoor and outdoor championship events since 2017. The year prior to Miller and Yearwood’s participation, those titles were held by ten different girls. The three plaintiffs have competed directly against Miller and Yearwood and have lost to them in nearly every case.

When people make threats against public officials, from the most local office to the presidency, law enforcement needs to be notified.

I lived through the 1960s, and I don't want to go through that crap ever again with all the assassinations and near-assassinations.

A 37-year-old murder case involving a 15-year-old victim has been solved thanks to genetic genealogy.  The case was solved late last month.

Unfortunately, the suspect in the murder died in 2013:

Muncy’s dismembered body was found on Oct. 16, 1983, by a Delaware County deputy sheriff along South Galena Road on the county’s western edge. Detectives believe he was slain in Columbus and his body dumped.

Sheriff Russell Martin cited advances in technology and sheer determination by his staff as key to identifying the murder suspect, 30-year-old Daniel Alan Anderson, who died in 2013.

“Despite numerous obstacles, the death of one of our detectives, and discouraging dead-ends along the way, these detectives persevered, and their hard work paid off,” Martin said. “It is, however, very unfortunate that we can’t place handcuffs on this criminal.”

Along those lines, another killer was named in a cold case involving genetic genealogy, but in this case, he got arrested the other day:

In Tennessee, Baldwin is charged with two counts of murder in the 1991 killing of 32-year-old Pamela Rose McCall and her unborn fetus.

McCall was found in woods off Interstate 65 in Spring Hill, Tennessee, in March of that year. An autopsy determined McCall had neck injuries and died of strangulation. Sperm was recovered from pantyhose worn by McCall, who was last seen at a Tennessee truck stop days earlier.

In Wyoming, Baldwin is charged in the deaths of two women whose bodies were found in 1992 roughly 400 miles apart. The women, who were never identified, are referred to as "Bitter Creek Betty" and "I-90 Jane Doe."
