History was made today as New York bred Tiz the Law, the favorite, easily won this year's truncated Belmont Stakes. He was the first New York bred to win this race since Forester won it in 1882, some 138 years earlier.
His time was 1:43.53, very fast for a mile and an eighth. Dr Post was second, Max Player was third, and Pneumatic was fourth.
Barclay Tagg, known for training Funny Cide, trained Tiz the Law. Manuel Franco is the jockey. It is the first Triple Crown race win for him.
Video, from NBC or NYRA, to follow when it is uploaded. If I post from somebody else, the video will almost certainly get taken down from YouTube as a copyright violation. This way, I don't have to worry about any video being removed.

A report from Associated Press:
It marked the third win in as many starts for Tiz the Law, and fifth victory in six career starts. His wins in the Florida Derby and Champagne Stakes were the only two Grade 1 victories among the 10 starters entering the race.
Tiz the Law has now won for the second time in as many starts at Belmont Park. The son of Constitution rolled to victory in the Champagne Stakes here last Oct. 5.
Earlier thoughts:
It is a bizarre Triple Crown season. I seriously doubt we will have a TC winner this year. If there is, the feat will have been cheapened because of the much-shorter Belmont (a mile and an eighth, I believe it is) and the huge gap between this race and the Kentucky Derby. There is a two-and-a-half month gap between the two races, and then several weeks until the "final jewel," the Preakness in October, almost missing the Breeders' Cup Championships!
I have taken to calling it the "Belmont Derby." It should be called the "Belmont Sprint."
It is strange to watch interviews with jockeys, and all the reporters are complying with social distancing. They seem to be miles away from the jockeys. Furthermore, the main broadcasters of this telecast are several feet away from each other.
Strangest of all are the grandstands. They are empty of spectators. It is almost like a ghost town there at Elmont, New York's, Belmont track.
Gamine won the Acorn Stakes in a stakes record time of 1:32.55. She won by 18 3/4 lengths.
