I can't blame people who want to reopen Oregon schools to in-person learning. It is a complete pain in the ass to do online or "distance" learning, and it is a ton of work in preparation besides. It is hell on the parents, hell on the students, hell on the teachers and staff. Furthermore, it is no real answer to anything but short-term use. However, I just don't think schools can be reopened safely statewide. At least not right now.

Trump has decided to deliberately tank the economy and screw over the most economically vulnerable.

Decent chance McConnell suckered Trump into pulling the plug on stimulus. Party is in bust out mode. McC likely sees that Trump is finished, probably senate majority too. Get the Court seat and leave the economy as wrecked as possible to ensure a Biden admin is stillborn.
