Obituary:  Noted dancer Adolfo Quinones, who was the same age I am, 65, has died.

Snip from the AP:

Quiñones was a founding member of the Lockers dance troupe, who introduced the locking style of street dance in the 1970s. He became a “Soul Train” dancer and later helped popularize breakdancing in the cult hit film “Breakin’” and its sequel. Quiñones choreographed Madonna’s “Who’s That Girl?” tour in 1987 and was a featured dancer on the tour, and he choreographed Three Six Mafia’s 2006 performance at the Oscars broadcast. He appeared in Chaka Khan’s 1984 video for “I Feel for You” as well as making TV appearances on shows including “Miami Vice,” “What’s Happening!!” and “Married… With Children.

Debate still continues over the 2k checks (in reality, the $1400) for the COVID stimulus.  However, the useless Senate is adjourned until noon tomorrow.

Obituary:  Singer Phyllis McGuire, 89, the last surviving sister of the famous vocal group The McGuire Sisters, fixtures on television in the fifties and sixties, has died.  She died on Tuesday at her home in Las Vegas.  Sister Christine died in 2018, two years and one day before Phyllis at the age of 92, while the other sister, Dorothy, 84, died in 2012.  Phyllis was the youngest of the trio.

Snip:

The sisters' success continued throughout the '50s but came to a halt in the '60s, as reports surfaced that Phyllis was romantically involved with Chicago mobster Sam Giancana, according to The New York Times. Phyllis, meanwhile, denied that it was anything more than platonic.

Before a grand jury in 1965, Phyllis testified that she knew Giancana to be a criminal, though she didn't know the specifics of his activities.

The McGuire Sisters stepped away from the spotlight in 1968, giving a final appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. While Christine and Dorothy raised families, Phyllis continued on as a soloist after releasing singles of her own starting in 1964.

One thing about it:  Phyllis had a colorful life.

A side note:  Her garish Las Vegas estate was on the market a few years back.  Her longtime companion, mentioned in both links, died in 2016.
