Not that a conviction by two-thirds will happen, but that isn't the point anyway. The point is to get this on the record for posterity. Trump's reputation is already in the ditch.

The Senate was ten short of "conviction," with the vote 57 in favor, 43 against. A clear majority were in favor of it, but the rule says 2/3 present is needed for a "conviction." It appears all senators were there to vote.
David Frum hits it out of the park regarding today's vote. Trump still lost regardless, and he is not anywhere near out of the woods legally speaking.
