Speaking of which, I haven't posted a lot of content other than news briefs in recent years.  I slacked off because of Trump getting in the White House, and I didn't want to waste my time writing too much about him or his radical right supporters. I also have a lot of other things going on.  It seems my most substantial posts of recent years, if you can call them that, are noting the deaths of famous people.  Well, rest assured as long as these famous people die, and as long as I am alive, this blog will remain active.

Biden signed an executive order preserving abortion rights, but necessarily it is limited in scope.

There is no action the President can take to restore the nationwide right to an abortion in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling. Biden has acknowledged publicly his options to expand abortion access remain limited, and has called on the American people to elect more members of Congress in November's midterm elections who will support federal legislation protecting abortion access.
The White House has dismissed several progressive ideas to protect abortion access, including allowing abortion providers to work from federal property in states where the procedure is banned. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said using federal lands for abortion services would have "dangerous ramifications." The White House has also reiterated the President does not support expanding the Supreme Court, as many progressives have pushed for.

By not expanding the USSC to have a justice for each circuit court (there are 13 presently), Biden has guaranteed nothing will be done to reverse the Dobbs decision.

The assassination of former Japan PM Shinzo Abe shocked the world because Japan has such a low crime rate.  The murder was carried out in broad daylight as he was speaking.

Abe would have been 68 in September, just a few months older than I am.
