Republicans are posed to take a beating in 2024 regarding abortion, though I suppose they arrogantly think they will get the Senate back because Democrats are having to defend many more seats (20 versus 10 GOP and three independent), though in the end, not many of them are really tossups, with all the GOP seats safe, and four or five Democratic seats at this early date considered tossups (WV, MT, AZ OH, and possibly NV).  They may be in for a huge shock.

It is old news that Samantha Geimer had long since forgiven Roman Polanski for his raping her at the age of 13 back in 1977.  It is really old news, and she wrote a very good book about the incident and the legal wrangling following it.

Dumbass Judge Rittenband should have been kicked off the bench for his grandstanding behavior.  This is where the problem lay, and unfortunately, many if not most people alive today were not alive then or too young to remember what this long-deceased judge tried to pull.  They think this is all cut-and-dried, but it wasn't.

In an ideal world, Polanski should have received 20 years in prison, but that isn't what was agreed to back then, and the relative slap on the wrist was to spare Samantha the ordeal of a trial.  Rittenband completely overstepped his responsibility in this case.
