Article is ignorant bullshit because many school districts still have "home ec," but it is under other names and also the classes explore topics other than cooking.
People can teach themselves how to cook. It isn't hard. One can purchase a basic recipe book like Betty Crocker and go from there.
I doubt the author remembers at all the way it used to be taught, when it was sex-segregated and girls were required to take it. The thrust was to train women for marriage and wifehood. I hated that shit then, and I hate it now. Thank God Title IX did away with that preparaton for marriage bullshit.
There are some 13,187 school districts in the U.S., while about 6,000, mostly public and in middle school, still have "home ec" under various names. That's still a large number. That is hardly a reason for panic.
It isn't all about cooking, moron, which you can teach yourself and don't need a class to learn how.
