Tuesday's Obituary Pages

The first might be more well-known, and that is heavy metal musician-entertainer and reality TV star Ozzy Osbourne, 76, has passed away after several years of poor health.  I was never into Black Sabbath or any of those metal groups, and, frankly, his biting off a bat's head in a poor excuse for showmanship was and is an immediate turnoff to me.  However, lots of people liked him, so I will post an excerpt from an obit:

Born in Birmingham, England, to a factory worker mother and toolmaker father, Osbourne was raised with his five siblings in a small two-bedroom house in Aston. He suffered intense bullying and claimed he was repeatedly molested by bullies on the way home from school, which he left aged 15 to find local work as a horn-tuner in a car factory, and at a slaughterhouse. He also spent a brief stint in prison, after his father refused to pay the fine incurred when he was convicted of robbing a clothes shop.

His music career began in 1967, when he was recruited as lead vocalist for the band Rare Breed, who split after playing just two shows. Osbourne and his bandmate Geezer Butler then formed Earth with guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward, renaming themselves Black Sabbath after being booked by accident

___

His second wife, Sharon, became his manager and also became almost as famous (or infamous) as her husband.  He also attempted to murder her at one time, and he later was accused by Sharon of having a number of extramarital affairs.  Somehow, they stayed together.

His real name is or was, since he is now a was and not an is, is/was John Michael Osbourne.

Actor Malcoln-Jamal Warner, 54, best remembered when he was a youth on the hit show The Cosby Show, tragically died in an apparent drowning.  He was visiting Costa Rica with his daughter when the tragedy happened.

More details about his death on Sunday:

Police told ABC News that Warner died near Cocles, a beach in Limon, Costa Rica, after getting caught by a rip current Sunday afternoon, police said. Bystanders rescued him and took him to shore, where he received treatment before being declared dead by the Costa Rican Red Cross, police said.

Warner was formally identified by Costa Rica's national police, which described him as a tourist.

His daughter, who was rescued, is eight years old.  What a hell of a terrible thing to happen.

Prominent attorney Roy Black, who could be counted on to give his take on legal matters by making numerous appearances on legal affairs shows, has also died.  The Miami-based attorney's most notable case was his successful defense of William Kennedy Smith years and years ago.

That and defending Jeffrey Epstein.  Enough said.

Black was 80.
