Obituary:  Oscar-nominated actor Graham Greene, 73, known for his role in Dances With Wolves, has died.

Born on June 22, 1952, in Ohsweken on the Six Nations Reserve and a graduate of the Centre for Indigenous Theatre Program in 1974, the Canadian actor made his small-screen debut on the 1979 Canadian drama series The Great Detective and film debut in Running Brave (1983).

However it was his role as Kicking Bird in the 1990 film Dances With Wolves that earned him a best supporting actor Oscar nomination. Out of its 12 nominations, Dances with Wolves won seven, including one for best picture.The film launched Graham’s career to new heights; he had performances in more than 200 film and television productions and starring roles at the Stratford Festival.

Another obituary:  Actor Randy Boone, 83, best known for his role in the television western series The Virginian, has also passed away.:

Boone was introduced to viewers of The Virginian on the episode “First to Thine Own Self,” which premiered in February 1964. His character, a drifter, finds a home at Shiloh and a friend in Betsy Garth (Roberta Shore) after he protects a young girl whose father had been murdered.

Boone said that he wrote many of the songs that he performed on the show, saying he wanted to “feel like I’m putting something special into the work.” He signed away the rights to the songs but was surprised and delighted to receive royalties years later.
