Obit:  UK actress Samantha Eggar, 86, has died.  She was known for her work in films like The Collector and Dr. Doolittle.  She also did some television work.

Snip:

Eggar got her start in television, appearing on the show Rob Roy in 1961. She continued getting gigs on TV before venturing into film with 1963's Doctor in Distress.

Her big break came with landing her role in The Collector at just 25, something that the actress struggled with, she admitted in a 2014 interview for The Terror Trap. Playing Miranda Grey, an art student taken captive by a crazed man, played by Terence Stamp, was challenging despite the fact that she knew her costar.

"Terence was at [the London drama school] Webber Douglas with me. So we knew each other then. But for the sake of the movie, we never spoke throughout the whole film. He really was that character, both off camera and on," Eggar said.
